I'm Alvaro, a software engineer from Guadalajara, Mexico, now based in Utrecht, Netherlands. I've spent the last 9 years building interfaces at companies ranging from consultancies to Bol.com, and Tesla.
I'm drawn to the space where design meets engineering. Not just making things work, but making them feel right. I care about the extra 5% — the detail that turns a good interface into one people actually enjoy using.
I think in UI before I touch code. I sketch ideas, question requirements, and try to understand the user's mental model before writing a single line. I likeproposing things, not just implementing them — some of my favorite work started as a conversation or a rough mockup, not a ticket.
I've worked across the full stack but frontend is where I feel most at home — specifically the intersection of data visualization, design systems, and product thinking. I believe clean architecture and good UX are the same problem from different angles.
I live in Utrecht with my wife and our two pets. Originally from Guadalajara so Mexico and tacos are always close to my heart. I care about work-life balance in the real sense — not the LinkedIn kind.
